Some background info
Our Hala Kondratowa Chalet is modelled after a 19th-century shepherd’s hut (Bacówka) still standing at Polana Kondratowa, a glade in the Tatra National Park. The hut has a characteristic slanted-roof construction, as depicted by Walery Eljasz (1840-1905), an artist who popularized the Tatra mountains and the town of Zakopane. Eljasz was one of the founders of the Tatra Society and the author of tourist guidebooks on the Tatra mountains.
