Restaurant with Scenic View
Lamb meatballs marinated in thyme, rosemary, red wine and seasoned with other herbs, served with porcini-mushroom sauce in kosorek made from fried local oscypek cheese, accompanied by a soured-cucumber salad and barley groats… lamb skewers with plum sauce, the traditional żur (white borsch) and mutton that melts in your mouth… And all this according to recipes passed down from our grandmothers and the regional cuisine traditions based on Polish and Carpathian flavours!
Our culinary efforts have been recognized and appreciated: we have been awarded the title of the Regional Restaurant of the Małopolska Region, and also the Podhale Flavours ceritificate and the Tatra Trademark of 2013… for our meatballs! But that’s not all – the well known traveller and connoisseur Elżbieta Dzikowska, in her guidebook Peas and Cabbage, or Travel in Poland has assured that the Restaurant at Polana Szymkówka is one of those magical places that must be visited.
From the beginning, the dishes served here have been made from local products and the manner of food preparation has referred to the traditions of the mountainous Podhale region. We keep introducing new dishes, drawing on the knowledge and experience of cooks who are from this region. But the magic of the restaurant is not only limited to its kitchen – there is a spacious terrace with a splendid view, while the interior has been equipped with panoramic windows that look out on the unspoilt Tatra Mountains and the Tatra National Park grounds. From our restaurant you can see a grand panorama stretching from Kasprowy Wierch mountain all the way up to the Slovakian High Tatra Mountains, and on the other side the mountains Pilsko and Babia Góra – the highest peak of the Beskid Żywiecki mountain range. Polana Szymkówka has been vibrant with life for decades, hosting tourists as well as shepherds with their herds.
You will enjoy your stay here. We can guarantee a real feast for body and spirit!
